History: This 1809 Pat Lyons hand pumper reportedly is the only all original Pat Lyons pumper in existence. The hand pumper was built by master fire pumper builder Pat Lyons in his shop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The pumper was purchased by the Friendship Hose Company #1 of Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, which was the first fire company is Schuylkill County. This hand pumper represents the first fire apparatus in Schuylkill County. The hand pumper was displayed at the Philadelphia Fire Museum for many years. It now serves as the centerpiece of the SHFS.
